The Saint Rose officers went to all the buildings and notified the students, staff, and faculty of the current situation. While nearing the end of the task to inform the campus, the Albany Police gave Saint Rose the okay to lift the lockdown, and there was minimal disturbance of the classes in session.

"Our first priority was to remove the students from the highest threat. That threat was being outside. Our primary efforts were focused on this important mission," said Steve Stella, Director of Safety and Security.

In the past Saint Rose has used "Send Word Now," which is a notification program informing users of emergency alerts through text messaging. In this situation "Send Word Now" was not put to use for lack of information at the time. Instead of sending out details that could have been false, the school chose to hold back on using the notification program. By the time Saint Rose gathered accurate information to share, the lockdown was already suppressed.

Saint Rose urges their students, staff, and faculty to use the safe alternatives when it comes to taking precautionary actions. The school offers an escort service, and shuttle program to anyone who doesn't feel comfortable walking alone. The security office encourages the Saint Rose community to use the services provided rather than take any unnecessary risks that could endanger anyone.
