For the health portion, Mitchell and the committee recruited a representative from Tinswalo Hospital, the closest hospital to the villages. The representative discussed men's health, AIDS, maternal health, and children's health. In addition, 60,000 condoms were donated to combat AIDS and teen pregnancy. Mitchell and the committee were able to make this a sustainable program with continuous condom donations to this area of South Africa.

Soccer balls were donated from an organization called "Alive and Kicking," and the organization also plans to donate 10,000 soccer balls by next summer for the Fifa World Cup. Coca-Cola sponsored this event, distributing soda and water to the community and providing a stage with speakers and music.

Mitchell's trip to South Africa was not her first time traveling to a third world country. In high school, she traveled for three weeks to New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji with an organization known as "People to People." The student ambassadors on this trip experienced impoverished conditions. They stayed with a host family in New Zealand to experience their way of life. The organization instilled leadership qualities into the student ambassadors.

Mitchell has carried these leadership qualities with her into college life at Saint Rose. This is her second year as a Resident Assistant, and she is the Executive Assistant for the Student Association.

Free time is extremely minimal in Mitchell's life. However, she finds the time to make as many of her sister's soccer games, at Albany College of Pharmacy, as possible. She is also attempting to train for the Stockade-A-Thon, a 9 mile run, this November.

Mitchell plans on graduating from law school at 22-years-old and working in a Northeastern city. Graduating at such a young age does not hold Mitchell back.

"Sometimes I think I am rushing things way too much, but I never let my age be a reason to not let me do something," she said.

Mitchell's father instilled in her the strong work ethic she possesses. For that, he is her role model. On the other hand, Mitchell admires her mother for different reasons. Mitchell's mother is never rushed and likes to soak in her surroundings.

Mitchell believes that her friends would describe her as an over-achiever. However, Katherine Headd, junior at the college and friend to Mitchell would describe her as much more.

"She sets goals and does everything in her power to make them happen. She has ambitions for things that most people would not even imagine. She wants to see improvement in the world and she works hard to ensure that she is part of this improvement. As serious as her work is she also has a lot of fun. She is funny and energetic."
