As another school year is well under way at Saint Rose many clubs are now filling with throngs of interested students which means many events are being planned and held. Graduate coursework at Saint Rose is done predominately part-time and during the night according to the office of Graduate and Continuing Education.
According to the Student Affairs office graduate students are allowed to participate in everything that is offered to undergraduate students.
"The college does not limit any event, club or activity to a certain group of students," said Paula Patterson, President of the Student Association.
"Any student; undergraduate or graduate has the right to be a part of all there is to offer at Saint Rose" According to Patterson, the Student Association is continuing to work at attracting graduate students into not only their organization but the many other clubs that are held on campus as well.
"Attracting graduate students into a club is tough due to their rigorous full-time schedule," said Patterson.
"We want to be able to attract graduate students in clubs such as the Student Association because it will give us another prospective from a different and more experienced kind of student."
Carly Wolfrom, Vice President of the Student Association, believes the group is working hard to attract all students to their events.
"The Student Association sends out e-mails and advertises all over campus. We recently have turned our office window into a giant notice board for upcoming events for SA and our clubs. While it may be difficult for graduate students to make it to our meetings on Thursdays at 4:15PM, we offer the option of a proxy. Any student can come fill out a proxy form for the semester and thereby be considered a member of SA," said Wolfrom.
Getting the word to graduate students about all of these clubs and events can be a tough task. Chloe Mister is a graduate student studying Communications and feels as though she needs to be better informed of things going on outside of her classroom.
