The NFL players weren't the only ones to take the field on super bowl weekend.
The College of Saint Rose held a Late Knight Super bowl extravaganza for students to enjoy some of the festivities before the actual game.
The event included a flag football showdown, where teams were set up based on how many students had signed up. Flags were strapped onto all of the players and the objective was not to tackle opponents, but to strip them of their flags. The game even had an MVP: Omar Lopez.
Latisha Barnett, the Director of Student Life, who helped organize this event, said "it is an alternative to going out and partying."
There were many of people in attendance who didn't to play football, but just came to watch the fun and enjoy themselves. It was an alcohol free event.
"It's fun," said Schuyler Bull, a Saint Rose student and president of Student Association. ""It draws a lot of people and it is a good alternative for the weekend."
The event itself drew a good portion of students; the Late Knight program usually holds events such as these once a month and draws similar crowds. The events are always open to the any student on campus looking for a safe, stress-free, and fun time.
