A Chronicle reporter rides out with police to see how safe students really are

Downtown Albany is a vibrant scene during the day, but what lurks in the shadows at night is something to fret about. Local residents along with college students ponder how safe they are living close to downtown. It seems as though students are constantly receiving security advisory e-mail's reporting a crime that happened over the weekend or during the week.

The College of Saint Rose has always brought in some of the top luminaries in politics and academics to give keynote speeches at its commencement ceremonies. This year, things will be a little different, as comedian Jimmy Fallon, formerly of "Saturday Night Live" and current host of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on NBC, will speak and receive an honorary degree at the ceremony, to be held May 9th at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Saint Rose likely to switch to Gmail for student email

After much consideration with the Student Association, the Academic Computing Committee, and the President's Cabinet, it is likely that the College's email will switch over to Gmail by June 30, 2009. On April 21, 2009, Executive Director of Information Technology Services John Ellis attended the 20th Student Association general business meeting to speak with students regarding the possible switch from our current email system to Google Apps Education Edition.

Many college students have difficulty balancing their schoolwork with their hobbies. Usually, the fun interests are put to the side in order to complete school tasks. In few cases, students successfully find a balance in their lives Luckily, Jamie Hopper was able to manage the responsibilities of being a student and a member of the Women's Swimming and Diving team throughout her four years at The College of Saint Rose.
